Privacy and Terms of Use

1. General information

akifcevik.com is the personal blog of Akif Çevik. This page explains what data is handled when you use the site and what rights you have over it.

The site is published as static pages, which means they are served from files prepared in advance. There are no accounts and no sign-in. Nothing is sold and nothing is shared for advertising.

2. What is collected

If you are only here to read, you are not asked for anything. Data is collected only when you fill in a form.

• Contact form: your name, your email address and your message.
• Comment form: your name, your email address and your note. Notes are not published automatically; suitable ones are added to the page by hand. Your email address is never published.
• Newsletter sign-up: your name and your email address.
• Server logs: while handling requests, the infrastructure provider briefly processes technical details such as the IP address, the browser type and the address requested. These logs are not used to build a profile of anyone.

Form data is not kept in a database on the site. It is sent on as email and stays in the mailbox.

There is no visitor tracking on this site. No analytics software, no tracking pixels, no ad networks.

3. Cookies

The site sets no cookies of its own. The only things you may find in your browser are these:

• cf_clearance: a security cookie from the infrastructure provider. It is used to tell automated and malicious traffic apart from real visitors. It is not used for advertising or tracking.
• theme: if you have chosen the light or dark theme, your preference is kept in your browser's local storage. This is not a cookie, it is never sent to the server, and it stays only in the browser you used. If you never change the theme, nothing is stored.

You can remove both by clearing site data in your browser settings.

4. How data is used

What you send through a form is used only to reply to you, to consider your note and to send the newsletter. It is not processed for anything else.

Your data is not sold, is not used for advertising, and is not shared with third parties unless the law requires it.

Messages stay in the mailbox for as long as the correspondence needs. They are removed when you ask for that.

5. Third parties

These are the services the site relies on:

• Cloudflare: hosting, security and email forwarding run on this infrastructure.
• Cloudflare Turnstile: protects the forms against automated submissions. It is not a tool for tracking visitors.
• YouTube: some posts contain video. The video does not load until you click the cover; until then no request goes to YouTube at all. When you click, it opens through youtube-nocookie.com.
• Social media links: nothing reaches those platforms unless you click the links.

When you use these services, their own privacy terms apply as well.

6. Your rights

You have the right to find out what data about you is being handled, and to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to it being handled at all.

If you want a note of yours taken off the site, just write and say so. Requests can go to info@akifcevik.com and will be answered within a reasonable time.

7. Changes

This text may be updated as the site changes. When that happens, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
